Position Title

Shift Manager

Part-Time: 25-30 Hours / Week; Weekend Availability Required

Job Summary and Mission

321 Coffee is a coffee shop and roaster built on inclusion. We aim to provide meaningful work experiences to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We believe in doing business the right way, and we’re looking for an individual who shares this passion for inclusion and belonging. 

321 Coffee is growing, and we are excited to hire upbeat, caring, and proactive doers to champion the 321 experience. This role is for someone who loves to work with other people, take ownership of the shop’s day-to-day needs, and find enjoyment while doing it all. You will work alongside some of the best baristas and work with other managers to achieve operational success. The Shift Manager is essential to executing the inner workings of each location during a shift to create a fun experience that is inclusive to all. 

Shift Managers will have a “home” location where they take responsibility for that shop's staff and operations. Shift Managers will be available and sometimes expected to cover shifts at other 321 Coffee locations.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Open and close shop

  • Restock inventory and prep items

  • Take orders and help prepare excellent drinks, products, and catering orders

  • Ensure work safety and cleanliness

  • Keep the shop running efficiently by anticipating any needs

  • Create a welcoming environment for guests and our team

  • Engage with others to share the 321 Coffee mission

  • Lead and develop employees

  • Assist Store Manager in scheduling employees and overseeing swap/drop requests

  • Assist in staff training (initial onboarding and additional as needed) 

  • Assist in monitoring inventory

  • Assist in maintaining vendor contacts and relationships

  • Assist in scheduled maintenance

  • Attend scheduled manager meetings

  • Serve in the on-call rotation

  • Other duties as assigned by Company

Basic Qualifications

  • Prior experience is a plus but not required

  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 25 lbs for restocking inventory 

  • Ability to move kegs weighing up to 50 lbs

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Eager to learn new skills and request help when needed

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Ability to lead and develop a diverse team

  • Engage with customers and provide outstanding customer service

  • Attend required shifts and maintain punctuality

  • Ability to use and troubleshoot point-of-sale technology

  • Ability to learn and use Google Suite products (specifically Gmail and Google Sheets) and 7Shifts scheduling software 

  • Experience working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and/or experience in the food & beverage or customer service industry is a plus

  • Ability to work weekends

Compensation

$17.50 an hour + tips (previously between $3.00 - $6.00 an hour)

Benefits

  • Full-time employees are eligible for paid time off, paid sick time off, and health insurance.

  • Part-time employees over 30 hours per week are eligible for paid time off and paid sick time off.

  • All employees are eligible for a free drink each time they work.
