POSITION TITLE 

Roasting + Production Manager

  • Part-Time: 15-20 Hours Per Week

  • Full Time: 40 Hours Per Week

  • Hours are weekdays between 8 AM - 5 PM

321 Coffee is a coffee shop and roaster built on inclusion. We aim to provide meaningful work experiences to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. 321 Coffee’s roasting and production is growing, and we are excited to hire a proactive and detail-oriented Roasting Manager to champion all things coffee. This role is for someone who wants to dive into the art and science of coffee, thrives in a high-volume environment, enjoys collaborating with others, and takes satisfaction in completing a series of tasks that contribute to the efficiency of a larger system. You will work alongside some of the best roasters and production team to achieve operational success. The Roasting + Production Manager is essential to delivering an excellent quality product for 321’s growing coffee presence. 

The Roasting + Production Manager will work primarily at 321 Coffee’s Roasting Facility.

SUMMARY OF KEY ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop coffee profiles and offerings

    • Create and refine roast profiles for different coffees

    • Manage green coffee inventory and contracts

    • Lead cuppings for the team for quality control

  • Oversee weekly coffee roasting and production

    • Roast Coffee

    • Pack Coffee

    • Brew and clean cold brew

  • Support product distribution

    • Compile and deliver shop and wholesale orders

    • Process and ship e-commerce orders

  • Deliver excellent customer experiences

    • Engage with customers and provide outstanding customer service when necessary

    • Create a welcoming environment for guests and our team

    • Engage with others to share the 321 Coffee mission

    • Lead tastings and Roasting Facility Experiences with retail/wholesale partners and customers

  • Oversee the roasting facility operations

    • Open and close the roasting facility

    • Maintain and troubleshoot key equipment

    • Lead and manage roasters and production team while helping build confidence in themselves

    • Anticipate needs and solve problems to keep production running efficiently

    • Ensure work safety and cleanliness

  • Eager to learn new skills and request help when needed

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Attend required shifts and maintain punctuality

  • Experience working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and/or experience in the food & beverage or customer service industry is a plus

  • Other duties as assigned by Company

BASIC ROLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior experience is a plus but not required

  • Ability to operate commercial coffee roasters

  • Ability to use coffee roasting and e-commerce software, such as Cropster and ShipStation

  • Ability to drive company delivery van

  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 25 lbs. for restocking inventory

  • Ability to move kegs weighing up to 50 lbs

  • Ability to move burlap bags of coffee weighing up to 150 lbs. into position.

COMPENSATION

From $17.50 an hour + tips (previously between $4.00 - $6.00 an hour)

BENEFITS

  • Full-time employees are eligible for paid time off, paid sick time off, and health insurance.

  • Part-time employees over 30 hours per week are eligible for paid time off and paid sick time off.

  • All employees are eligible for a free drink each time they work.
