Position Title

Shift Manager

Part-Time or Full-Time: 15 - 40 Hours/Week; Weekend Availability Required

Job Summary and Mission

321 Coffee is a coffee shop and roaster built on inclusion. It aims to provide meaningful work experiences to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. 

321 Coffee is growing, and we are seeking an upbeat, caring, proactive doer to champion the 321 experience. This role is for someone who loves to work with other people, dive into the day-to-day, and have fun while doing it all. You will work alongside some of the best baristas in the Triangle to create a unique customer service experience. The Shift Manager is essential in creating an inspiring and fun experience that is unique and inclusive to all.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Open and close shop

  • Restock inventory and prep items

  • Take orders and help prepare excellent drinks and products

  • Lead and manage baristas and cashiers while helping build confidence in themselves

  • Ensure work safety and cleanliness

  • Keep the shop efficiently running by anticipating needs

  • Create a welcoming environment for guests and our team

  • Engage with others to share the 321 Coffee mission

  • Serve in the on-call rotation

  • Attend the monthly manager meetings

Basic Qualifications

  • Prior experience is a plus but not required

  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 25 lbs for restocking inventory 

  • Ability to move kegs weighing up to 50 lbs

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Eager to learn new skills and request help when needed

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Ability to lead and build confidence in a diverse team

  • Engage with customers and provide outstanding customer service

  • Attend required shifts and maintain punctuality

  • Ability to use and troubleshoot point-of-sale technology

  • Experience working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and/or experience in the food & beverage or customer service industry is a plus

Compensation

$17.50 an hour + tips (previously between $3.00 - $6.00 an hour)

Benefits

  • Full-time employees are eligible for paid time off, paid sick time off, and health insurance.

  • Part-time employees over 30 hours per week are eligible for paid time off and paid sick time off.

  • All employees are eligible for a free drink each time they work.
